Faculty: This intensive program is designed to guide singers through the exploration of the musical language, verbal language and body language of the operatic art form and the creative process necessary to integrate them all into meaningful, inspiring and artistic performance. Each singer will participate in scene study, music coachings, diction coachings, music and stage rehearsals, movement classes, creative process classes, acting classes and study of 18th century drama and its influence on the operas of the day. Singers and pianists will perform in several concerts during the program as well as a final production of staged scenes from “Marriage of Figaro” and other comic operas of Mozart. Two performances of the final program will be presented by the Delaware Valley Opera as the “kick-off” to their 2013 season “Mischievous, Magnificent Mozart!”. Applications are reviewed and acceptances made in the order in which applications are received. WHO IS ELIGIBLE: The program is designed for singers and pianists interested in making careers in opera and who have a background of strong vocal or piano training and some performance experience. AUDITION REQUIREMENTS: Applications will be accepted until the program is fully subscribed. Each applicant must submit the following: Auditions are held in New York. There may be certain instances where a tape or CD will serve as an audition. Interested singers should inquire. Download the application form. DATES: All participants will be expected to arrive on the campus of SUNY Sullivan, Lock Sheldrake, New York on Sunday, July 7th between 12 noon an 6:00 pm and remain with the program until breakfast on Monday, July 22nd. FEE: The fee for housing, three meals a day, tuition and use of campus facilities is $2,000 per participant. $1,000 is due upon acceptance of an invitation to participate in the program ,the other half is due no later than May 20, 2013.
